Mother’s Day – a day we celebrate our own mothers, being mothers, those special non biological “mothers” to our children.., otherwise known as the tribe of “aunty’s” who guide them through life.

As beings who have lived on this planet for such a long time now, I truly believe we each have a responsibility to pass our gifts and our learned skills on to our children.

Bali is an assault on all senses… the food is some of the best anywhere in the world (in my opinion) and the skill of the Balinese artists blows me away every time I am there.

There are some things you realize that you lose sight of until you remove yourself from the everyday.

After a particularly full on year in business, Mr Uber and I realised that if we didn’t take ourselves away from the everyday stuff for a little while – we would never get a chance for a break or an opportunity to recharge and reassess our mindset.

Dads; fathers, pops, a son’s first hero, a daughter’s first love… or in my case ‘The Rare Eastern Bilby’.

When life is busy we can far too often let the moments we cherish pass us by. I have made a promise to myself and my children to find a moment in every day that makes me truly happy.

Last week I had just that experience for myself. I thought my own family being rushed off our feet making Mother’s day gifts for our Uberkate peeps hadn’t had time to by me anything and so I bolted into Zara and did a little damage to the credit card.

In my little family of four, our birthday Cakes are a BIG deal. The kids like to pour over the cake books and search the internet endlessly to find the most difficult, elaborate, and out there cake they could possibly ask me to make.

These past two weeks I have been living life  in crazy town. For many school holidays alone with the constant nagging for food is enough to get you a ticket to crazy town.  In my case, a whole list of things – otherwise referred to as a cluster bomb, pretty much guaranteed me a one way ticket to crazy town...
