Caring For your UbyKate Pretties at Home.
Crown yourself queen of jewel care
Congratulations. You’re now the proud owner and wearer of UbyKate jewellery. But before you start blinding people with your bling, let’s run through some house-keeping and jewel-keeping.
- Our jewellery is handcrafted from solid sterling silver 925 and yellow, white and rose gold in 9ct.
- Your piece contains a metal hallmark on the inside of a ring or the back of a pendant. 925 is sterling silver 375 is nine carat gold.
- You’ll notice two tiny interlocked circles engraved somewhere on your piece. This is our authenticity hallmark to let you know you have bought a genuine UbyKate piece.
- If you’re an everyday jewellery wearer (join the club), your jewellery may come into contact with sweat, food, oils, and sunscreen. Because, well, life. Our jewellery is smooth, but tough - and they don’t mind getting a little dirty. Just give them a bathe once in a while, and they’ll be golden.
Don’t call me precious. Just my jewels.
If life has made your jewels a little dirty, congrats, you’re doing life right. But to bring your bling back to its best, here’s what we recommend.
We suggest putting your jewellery on last thing after doing makeup and spraying perfume. Avoid wearing in water to keep us bright and shiny. (Definitely don't wear us in chlorine pools). We are not fragile but different environments can lead to tarnishing.
Our favourite cleaning hacks:
Method 1: Get a cup of warm water (PSA: not boiling) and add washing detergent. Soak your jewellery for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, use an old toothbrush to lightly rub the front and back of any gemstones. Rinse and allow time to air dry. Use a soft jewellery polishing cloth for extra shine.
Method 2: Put a small amount of toothpaste on your finger (not a toothbrush), and gently rub it over your silver bling. Rinse and use a soft polishing cloth.
Our favourite storage hacks:
Jewellery may love the limelight, but it doesn't love being exposed for long periods of time (for example, on your bathroom bench). It can cause pieces to oxidise.
We recommend storing your UbyKate jewellery in a closed jewellery box.
If you’ve accidentally exposed your bling to chemicals and the metal has changed colour, we can professionally clean it for you for a small charge. Email us at admin@ubykate.com and we’ll get you shining in no time.
Bling it on.
