What to Expect When Creating a Bespoke Piece with UbyKate

Step One: The Initial Consultation 

Every bespoke journey begins with a conversation.
During your consultation, we’ll take the time to understand you. Some clients arrive with a clear design in mind, while others simply know how they want their piece to feel. Both are equally welcomed. 

This stage is all about discovery. 

Step Two: Design Development 

Once we know the design direction, our team begins exploring concepts and refinding the details of your piece. 

Depending on the project, this may involve gemstone sourcing, design sketches, technical planning and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) development. 

During this stage, your design will begin to take shape. Every measurement and detail is carefully considered to ensure the piece is both beautiful and functional for everyday wear. 

Step Three: Gemstone Selection 

Selecting the perfect gemstone or diamond can be one of the most exciting parts of the bespoke journey.  Each gemstone is unique and the right selection can completely transform the personality of a design. 

One thing we love doing before we get to this stage is a little game with gemstones. We lay everything out in front of you and we ask you to put them into three piles (Yes, No and, Maybe). This allows us to see what you’re immediately drawn to. 

Regardless of what you’re choosing, we’ll guide you through all the available options. 

For heirloom redesign projects, we assess existing gemstones to ensure they are suitable or resetting and discuss any considerations before production begins.

Step Four: CAD Approval

Once your design sketches have been finished, we move to creating a detailed CAD render, allowing you to visualise the finished piece before it enters production. This is your opportunity to review proportions, gemstone placement, setting details and overall design aesthetics. 

We work closely with you throughout this stage to ensure every detail feels exactly right before manufacturing begins.

Step Five: Bringing the Piece to Life

After final approval, your piece enters production.

Our workshop begins the intricate process of crafting your design, from casting and assembly through to gemstone setting and finishing.

This is where months of planning, design development and craftsmanship come together.

Every bespoke piece is made specifically for its owner, which means no shortcuts, no mass production and no compromises.

Step Six: Final Finishing & Quality Control

Before your piece leaves our workshop, it undergoes extensive quality control checks.

We inspect every detail, ensuring gemstones are securely set, finishes are flawless and the piece meets the standards we expect from a future heirloom.

Only once we are completely satisfied does the piece move to its final stage.

Step Seven: Collection Day

The most rewarding part of the journey is seeing the finished piece for the first time. Bringing it down to share with the team.
